"politico" hassen e an exclusiv report that president obama and representative boehner had a "curt" telephone conversation. speak speaker boehner says he wants to move his position on tax rates but the president won't budge. he told him, if he has an alternative plan, he ought to put that forward rather than focusing on entitlements. the white house will send tim geithner to capitol hill for a meeting. yesterday the president met with ceos including at&t, goldman sachs, coca-cola and caterpillar, many of whom said after the meeting they emerged hopeful a deal could be struck to avoid the fiscal cliff. in another meeting with middle-class americans, president obama said he believes the framework for a deal could be in place before christmas. >> and i'll go anywhere, and i'll do whatever it takes to get this done. it's too important for washington to screw this up. now's the time for us to work on what we all agree to, which is let's keep middle-class taxes low. that's what our economy needs. that's what the american people deserve. >> white hou
